📄 Terms of Use
MathsConnected is a trading name of Edu Connected (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa (registration number 2026/591995/07). In these terms, “we” means that company. Its registered office, which is also its address for legal notices, is 89 Kenneth Kaunda Road, Durban North, Durban, 4051, South Africa. Email: support@mathsconnected.co.za.
By creating an account or using MathsConnected you agree to these terms. If you sign up on behalf of a school, you confirm you are allowed to bind that school.
What the service is
A collection of maths games and thinking tasks for Grades 4–7, with progress tracking for parents, teachers and school admins. It is a practice and enrichment tool. It is not a substitute for teaching, and we make no promise about marks.
Accounts
- You must be 18 or older to open an account or to pay for a plan. Children use MathsConnected through a parent's account or their school's.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Children's logins are created by a parent, or by the child after entering a class code. A teacher can reset a learner's password but can never see the old one.
- School admins approve which teachers may see learner information.
Plans and payment
- Prices are on the pricing page, in South African Rand. The price shown is the full price: we are not registered for VAT, so none is added. Families pay per child; schools choose a plan by the number of learners, teachers and admins it covers.
- Every plan starts with a free week. A card is needed to start it: R1 is taken to check the card and refunded automatically. Nothing else is charged during the week.
- The free week opens every game. Of the material that can be printed and kept, it opens one worksheet from each term; the other worksheets, the workbooks and the answer books open when your plan starts.
- When the free week ends, the plan you chose starts and is charged in advance, monthly or yearly, to the card on file, until you cancel. Schools may pay by debit order instead, or by invoice and EFT by arrangement.
- Moving to a bigger plan happens straight away and costs only the difference for the time already paid for. Moving to a smaller plan, or changing how often you pay, takes effect on your renewal date.
- Access is online and starts as soon as the free week or a payment does. There is nothing to deliver.
- Prices may change with one calendar month's notice, and a change never applies to time you have already paid for.
- A monthly plan carries on month to month until you cancel.
- A yearly plan held by a family, or by one person such as a tutor, never starts another year by itself. Between 40 and 80 business days before the year ends we write to you, as the Consumer Protection Act requires, with the date, the prices, any change in price, and your choices. Unless you choose another year, the plan carries on month to month at the monthly price from the day the year ends, and you can cancel at any time.
- A school's yearly plan renews for another year unless it is changed or cancelled before the year ends. We send a reminder a few months beforehand.
- An invoice is emailed for every payment, and every invoice is kept on your plan page. You can add the name, address, VAT number and reference your accounts need to it there.
- How cancelling and refunds work is set out in full on the refunds and cancellations page.
Changing your mind
The free week is there for exactly that: stop before it ends and you pay nothing. Because access starts at once, the seven-day cooling-off period in the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act does not apply (section 42(2) of that Act); the free week gives you those seven days instead. A family, or one person such as a tutor, can also end a yearly plan early and get money back: see refunds and cancellations.
Fair use
A plan covers the learners, teachers and admins it says it covers. Please do not share one account across a whole grade — the seat limits exist so the price stays honest for everyone.
The games and content
The games, worksheets, workbooks and artwork belong to us. A plan lets you use them with your own children or your own classes while the plan runs, and print or copy the worksheets for those children. Do not copy, share, resell or rebrand them beyond that.
Schools: learners' information
For the learners a school adds, the school decides what is done with their information and we handle it for the school. In the words of the Protection of Personal Information Act, the school is the responsible party and we are its operator. We use that information only to provide the service to the school. We keep it confidential and secure, as our privacy policy sets out. We tell the school without delay if we have reason to believe that anyone has had access to it who should not have. We delete it when the school removes a learner, asks us to, or closes its account. The school is responsible for having the consent of each learner's parent or guardian.
Availability
We aim to keep the site up but cannot promise it never breaks. If it is unavailable for a long stretch through a fault of ours, tell us: we add the time lost to your plan free of charge or, if you prefer, refund that part of what you paid.
Our responsibility to you
Please read this part with care. It limits what we can be held liable for.
- If something goes wrong through our fault, we put it right as these terms and the refunds and cancellations page say.
- Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we are liable only for direct loss, and for no more than you paid us in the twelve months before the loss. We are not liable for indirect loss, such as lost income.
- Nothing here limits our liability for gross negligence or fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit, and nothing here takes away a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act.
Ending things
Cancel whenever you like from Plan and billing. The next payment stops and access continues until the end of the time already paid for; nothing is deleted. We may suspend an account that abuses the service or does not pay. If we close your account without good reason, we refund the unused part of the period paid for. See refunds and cancellations.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we email the account holder at least 30 days before the change starts. If you do not accept it, you may cancel before then.
The law, and complaints
South African law applies to these terms. If part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still stands.
If something is wrong, tell us first, through our contact page or at support@mathsconnected.co.za. We reply within two working days. If we cannot settle it, you may take a complaint to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (cgso.org.za, 0860 000 272) or to the National Consumer Commission (thencc.org.za).
